Festival Season in Rotterdam

Rotterdam stacks two of Europe's most statistically improbable summer events back to back: a three-day indoor jazz festival that opened in 1976 with Miles Davis, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, and James Brown on the same day's programme, and a Caribbean carnival that peaked at one million street participants and earned UNESCO intangible heritage status in December 2023.
