Punk-Events in Patras

Punk rock emerged in the mid-1970s as a raw, anti-establishment reaction to the perceived excesses of mainstream pop and progressive rock. Defined by its high-energy, fast-paced tempos and stripped-down arrangements, it typically features heavily distorted electric guitars, aggressive drumming, and shouted or sneered vocals. Lyrically, it often explores political, social, and nihilistic themes, maintaining a minimalist musical structure rooted in garage rock and pub rock. This genre prioritizes a 'do-it-yourself' ethic over technical proficiency, resulting in a gritty, high-impact sound that paved the way for various alternative and hardcore sub-genres throughout the following decades.
