Mpb-Events in Brüssel

Música Popular Brasileira, or MPB, emerged in the mid-1960s as a sophisticated evolution of Bossa Nova, blending traditional Samba rhythms with contemporary rock, jazz, and pop influences. Instrumentation typically centers on the nylon-string acoustic guitar, enriched by diverse percussion, elegant brass sections, and smooth electric basslines that maintain a refined, radio-ready production quality. Characterized by its poetic lyricism and harmonically complex structures, the genre navigates between melancholic sociopolitical commentary and vibrant, syncopated celebrations of Brazilian cultural identity. This eclectic movement bridges the gap between regional folk traditions and international avant-garde trends, establishing a unique melodic framework that remains a cornerstone of the nation’s mainstream musical heritage.
