Afro House-Events in Brüssel

Afro House emerged from South Africa during the 1990s as a sophisticated fusion of traditional African rhythms, Kwaito, and soulful Deep House. Characterized by its steady 4/4 kick drum, the genre is defined by intricate polyrhythmic percussion, including congas and shakers, layered over deep, hypnotic basslines and ethereal synthesizer pads. The mood oscillates between spiritual introspection and high-energy celebration, often featuring organic vocal chants or soulful melodies that emphasize its cultural roots. As a sub-genre of House, it maintains a moderate tempo of approximately 120 to 125 BPM, bridging the gap between electronic dance music and ancestral acoustic traditions.
